AdMob's Southeast Asia Regional Metrics Report Highlights Key Trends By Country & Device Manufacturer for Q4 2009

Smartphone Penetration Increasing Rapidly Across Region, Nokia and Apple Leading in Different Countries

SINGAPORE, March 2 -- AdMob, one of the world's largest and fastest growing mobile advertising networks, complemented the release of its January 2010 Mobile Metrics Report with supplemental report focused on trended manufacturer share, smartphone OS share, and the top devices in Southeast Asia, Australia, and India in Q4 2009.

The report found that smartphone penetration reached 40 percent across Southeast Asia in Q4 2009. Singapore had the highest smartphone penetration at 77 percent and Vietnam had the lowest at 22 percent.

Highlights from the Q4 2009 AdMob Southeast Asia Regional Metrics Report include:

-- Singapore, Hong Kong and Vietnam grew the fastest in 2009 with an
average monthly traffic growth rate of 458 percent.
-- Nokia continued to be the leading manufacturer in Southeast Asia with
52 percent of requests, followed by Apple with 15 percent and
Sony Ericsson with 12 percent in Q4 2009. The remaining 10
Manufacturers accounted for 21 percent of traffic.
-- Symbian OS is the most popular operating system in the region and
accounted for 77 percent of smartphone requests in Q4 2009. The iPhone
OS came in second with 19 percent of requests. Combined, they
represented 96 percent of smartphone traffic in Southeast Asia.
-- The Nokia N70 smartphone has a deeply entrenched position in Southeast
Asia based on ad requests in December 2009. The N70 is the most popular
smartphone device in Indonesia, Philippines and India. In Malaysia,
Thailand and Vietnam, the N70 is the most popular device running on the
     Symbian OS.
-- The iPhone OS was most dominant in Australia, Singapore and Hong Kong
with 93 percent, 84 percent and 76 percent, respectively, of ad
requests in December 2009. These three countries are responsible for 69
percent of the region's total iPhone traffic. The Symbian OS lost 39
percent, 29 percent and 16 percent of ad requests in Australia,
     Singapore and Hong Kong, respectively.

AdMob stores and analyzes handset and operator data from every ad request in its network of more than 15,000 mobile Web sites and iPhone, Android, and webOS applications to optimize ad serving.  The AdMob Mobile Metrics Reports aggregate this data to provide insights into major trends in the mobile ecosystem. The AdMob share is calculated by the percentage of requests received from a particular handset; it is a measure of relative mobile Web and application usage and does not represent handset sales.
